Resource Recovery Powers China's Future
Preserving resources to power future growth is one of the biggest challenges facing China's emerging economy. Harsco's answer? Partner with two of the world's largest steelmakers to reclaim wastes while protecting the environment.
For the next 20 years, Harsco will be at work in Tangshan Iron and Steel, the flagship site of China's largest steelmaker, Hebei Iron & Steel Group. Our ability to recover useful metal from slag, turn residual waste into useful aggregate and reduce the overall impact of operations on the community adds value inside and outside of the mill.
“Harsco has shown the world the best services in slag processing. They have made great contributions to the environment
of Tangshan.”— Mr. Yu, Yong, Chairman and President, Tangshan Iron and Steel, Hebei, China
In neighboring Shanxi Province, Harsco and Taiyuan Iron & Steel (TISCO) are partnering to significantly reduce waste in their steelmaking operation - and renew potentially thousands of acres of prime agricultural cropland in the process. Harsco will extract high-value mineral content from steelmaking slag for reuse in production, while our ground-breaking technologies turn byproducts into high-quality fertilizer. The fertilizer is expected to rejuvenate depleted land, turning an industrial solution into an integral support for global agriculture.
Preserving resources. Reducing waste. Revitalizing our planet. That's how Harsco provides Insight Onsite.
