Partnering with our customers to solve their most significant environmental challenges is a hallmark of the Harsco Way of Working in our Metals & Minerals division.
That valuable collaboration was honored recently when China’s Hebei Province presented us with a 2014 Scientific & Technical Cooperation Award for our work with Tangshan Steel. The award recognizes the contribution made by foreign scientists or engineers to the development of Hebei Province. B.L. Tembhare, a member of our Global Engineering team, was nominated by Tangshan Steel for the award, in recognition for his efforts and also for the work of the wider Harsco Metals & Minerals engineering team.
Under a joint venture with Tangshan Steel, we focus on providing slag management, metal recovery and slag sales as well as improving the surrounding environment from steelmaking operations. Tangshan Steel, which is regarded as the world’s cleanest steel plant, is part of Hebei Iron & Steel Group (HBIS), China’s largest and world’s second-largest steelmaker.
Our Tangshan program parallels a similar relationship with China’s TISCO, another major steel producer that ranks as the world’s leading producer of stainless steel.
